Basic Hemming Workshop

Instructor: Jill Ferguson

Student Group/Skill Level: Young Adult/Adult - Beginner

In this workshop you will learn 3 basic hem styles/techniques. First, basic simple turned hem; second, blind hem; and third, double-turned hem.

Date: Tuesday, January 21,2020 OR Saturday, February 15, 2020

Time: 10:00am to 12:00pm

Where: Phil’s Sewing Studio 400 E. 5th Street (across the street from Phil’s Sewing Machines)

Workshop Fee: $10.00 due at sign-up. The workshop fee includes the cost of the workshop, fabric kit, use of a sewing machine and instruction. If you choose to bring your own sewing machine see requirements below the supply list. You will need to bring your own supplies, see list below. These should be purchased prior to the Workshop.

  • Seam gauge
  • Pins/clips
  • Fabric marking pen/pencil
  • Seam riper
  • Fabric scissors

Sewing machine** in good working order with zig-zag foot, blind hem foot, and overcast foot, full bobbin of all purpose polyester thread and universal 90/14 needle. We have classroom machines available for use at no additional cost and invite you to try one. If you would like to use one of our classroom machines, please let us know prior to the workshop.
**If bringing and using your own sewing machine, must be familiar with it, know how to thread, wind & insert bobbin, select straight, zig-zag, overcast, and blind hem stitch, and insert new needle if necessary.
