Summer Moon Quilt Top Workshop

Student Group/Skill Level: Adult - intermediate to advanced
Join us for our afternoon BOM session with the popular quilt, Summer Moon, by designer Carrie Nelson. These are gorgeous blocks with a touch of whimsy for the intermediate to advanced. There are 24 blocks in various sizes for a total of 72, including great setting options. It’s up to you how many you make and how fast you want to progress. There are 10 sessions total ending next July, we hope to see you there!
Dates: Saturday, September 14, October 12, November 9, December 14, 2019, February 8, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, and July 11, 2020
Time: 1:00pm to 4:00pm
Where: Phil’s Sewing Studio 400 E. 5th Street (across the street from Phil’s Sewing Machines)
Workshop Fee: $90.00 due at sign-up. The workshop fee includes the cost of the workshop, Summer Moon book (a $19.95 value) and instruction. You will need to bring your own fabric and supplies, see list below. These should be purchased prior to the Workshop.

Supply list: Note- If supplies are needed they should be purchased prior to the class. Highlighted items available for purchase at Phil’s, stop by and our staff will happily help you make your selections. We appreciate your support of our small business.
- coordinating thread and full bobbin for construction
- seam ripper
- rotary cutter
- fabric marking pen/pencil
Fabrics: All fabrics should be starched and cut before the day of class. You will receive cutting instructions with payment for this workshop.
20 fat quarters or 1/4 yard cuts
6 and 1/2 yards of background fabric (same or mixed)
Setting and border options will be discussed in the month one section and will require additional fabrics.
Sewing machine* in good working order with accessories, full bobbin and new needle (80/12 microtex recommended). We have classroom machines available for use at no additional cost and invite you to try one. If you would like to use one of our classroom machines, please let us know prior to the workshop.
*If bringing and using your own sewing machine, must be familiar with it, know how to thread, wind & insert bobbin, select straight stitch, and insert new needle if necessary.
